Public sector

Proximus collaborates with the public sector to implement projects that have a positive impact on society.

Smart city

We offer a range of solutions to assist cities in providing services to their citizens, including:

Realtime Crowd Management

Cities across Belgium use our Realtime Crowd Management solution to monitor people flows based on anonymised and aggregated data from mobile devices.

Smart public lighting

Our affiliate Codit worked with Schréder, the smart lighting specialist, to develop a platform that manages the data recorded by smart public lighting. Sensors in the lights record data such as temperature, traffic density, and weather conditions to determine how bright the lights should shine.

Smart mobility

Traffic safety

ANPR cameras (smart cameras with number plate recognition) recognise license plates and, thanks to secure data exchange, the data reaches the competent authorities efficiently. These solutions are a plus for traffic safety, police operations and any access and route controls. In other words, more security and safer traffic flow.

Connected ambulance

Proximus and UZ Brussel co-created a state-of-the art ambulance for inter-hospital transport. The ambulance is equipped with latest technology such as IoT for patient monitoring, AR for remote assistance of a doctor and 5G connectivity to have real-time and reliable communication with the hospital. By using cameras and headsets for all occupants, including the patient, and augmented reality (AR) glasses, medics outside the hospital literally have a view of the situation inside.

Virtual Reality trainings

Proximus has created a digital twin environment for the Emergency department of hospital OLV Aalst. A simulation training in virtual reality (VR) or in a digital twin gives the opportunity to train protocols and procedures of specific situations (car accident, fire, home situation) upfront, as many times and as complex as a trainee needs. In this specific training, PIT (paramedic intervention team) nurses could train standing orders, triage and communication protocols for situations outside the hospital.
