Ookla® tests confirm that Proximus fiber is indeed the fastest Internet in Belgium

Since 1 May, Proximus fiber can officially be referred to as "The fastest Internet in Belgium". Ookla®, global leader in network performance measurement and monitoring with its renowned Speedtest®, has just confirmed this on the basis of more than 160,000 tests carried out on Proximus' fiber network between the beginning of February and the end of April 2024.

To accurately measure the speeds reached on Proximus' fiber network, the results of thousands of tests performed with the Ookla® Speedtest® during February, March and April 2024 were collected and analyzed. These results prove that Proximus fiber does indeed provide for the fastest download and upload speeds in the country.

Fiber technology is suitable both for households whose members work from home, stream movies and series and/or play games online, and for businesses that need the best speeds for online meetings, downloading large files or synchronizing documents in the cloud.

To guarantee the best performance, Proximus rolls out fiber end-to-end, right to the very center of its customers' homes. This is known as Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH). And that makes all the difference.

"Speedtest Verified" label awarded by Ookla®

Based on these results, Ookla® decided to award Proximus a "Speedtest Verified" label. It can be used in the brand's campaigns, but also in its stores and on its website.

Proximus fiber enables download speeds of up to 8.5 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1 Gbps with Ultra Fiber. Giga Fiber customers can already benefit from download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 500 Mbps. This is considerably faster than what most competitors have to offer. Thanks to Fiber-to-the-Home, Proximus also guarantees top-notch stability and ultra-low latency.

Today, over 1.8 million (36%) Belgian households and businesses can already be connected to fiber. In partnership with network builders Fiberklaar in Flanders, Unifiber in Wallonia, and GoFiber in the German-speaking part of the country, Proximus intends to eventually achieve gigabit coverage throughout Belgium.
